Employee of the Year

Each year, McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) employees vote for Employee of the Year. This award and recognition was started by Norman Shopay in 2009 and has been continued due to overwhelming staff support.
The Employee of the Year is chosen through a secret ballot by their peers and judged on merit of the employee’s contributions to MCSD.
The Employee of the Year must be a person who has brought about significant positive change, one who eliminates obstacles in achieving District goals and objectives, is resourceful, contributes constructively, innovates, exceeds expectations, inspires others, and proactively identifies and resolves challenges. The 2025 Employee of the Year Award goes to Seth Meynell.
Seth’s commitment to excellence is evident in his work performance and in the high regard in which his co-workers and colleagues hold him. Seth can be counted on to make the correct decision every time. He is mindful and attentive to keeping projects on point, eliminating wasted time and resources. Seth leads through his exemplary behavior and work ethic while maintaining a good attitude and an even, steady demeanor no matter the urgency of the situation. Seth is trusted and well liked amongst his peers and is often sought out for his knowledge and expertise. Seth’s skills, knowledge and leadership are invaluable assets to the District, making this recognition well deserved.
Seth will hold this distinction for the 2026 calendar year with a new Employee of the Year crowned at the end of 2026.
